About First Baptist Church of Woodstock Foster Care
Ministry
Prior to 2007, First Baptist Woodstock did not have a formal
foster care ministry, but members of the church were involved on an
individual basis. In August of 2008, the church began its
partnership with FaithBridge Foster Care, creating a formal,
structured foster care ministry under the name First Baptist Church
of Woodstock Foster Care Ministry.
Impact
The Mingonets discuss how the foster care ministry has impacted
First Baptist Church Woodstock:
The foster care ministry provides a vehicle for many of our
members to answer the biblical mandate to reach out to the
abandoned, the neglected, the abused and the orphans. It has
enabled our members to reach out in the name of our Lord, Jesus
Christ, and love children in need. It has provided another means
for this body of Christians to be Chist-like right here in
our county, and be relevant to the pressing needs in people's lives
right here in the shadow of our steeple. This opportunity is not
only opening doors to those that become foster families but it has
also increased opportunities for people of various abilities and
ministries to serve in areas such as home repair, transportation,
medical, clothes closet, uncle and aunt, grandmother and granddad
and a whole host of arms and legs, feet and hands that make up the
local body of Christ.
