If you are unable to be a foster parent
but would like to participate in foster care ministry, FaithBridge
Foster Care welcomes volunteers with a variety of interests and
skills to participate as members of our Community of CareSM. As a volunteer, you may be involved in
babysitting, procurement of goods and services, transportation, or
one of many other needs.
We provide training for all volunteer positions. The level of
training and the amount of information you must provide varies
based on whether you will have direct interaction with the
children. For example, respite families must participate in the
weekend impact training and must undergo fingerprinting and a
background check.
You can learn more by attending the two-hour orientation session.

Volunteer roles
The following is a list of roles and
responsibilities our volunteers assume as members of the Community
of CareSM. Volunteers are organized in to teams with
team coordinators or team leaders who help to ensure that everyone
is working together. Learn how the Community of
Care works.
- The Childcare team provides both
respite care and basic babysitting services. Respite care involves
caring for children overnight away from the foster family home,
most often on weekends, and requires the same training and approval
process as becoming foster family. Babysitting is just that-brief
childcare for things like date nights, appointments, foster parent
training and other short-term needs.
- The Clothing and Supplies team
coordinates the location and delivery of material goods and meals
to foster families-especially when a new child enters the home.
Often, there's little notice to procure a car seat, special
furniture or other resources that a child may need so these
volunteers act as a 'quick response' team.
- The Discipleship team provides
spiritual and emotional support to foster families, helping to
navigate the unique challenges of fostering.
- The Mentoring and Tutoring team
provides 'one-on-one' coaching, primarily tutors and mentors, who
help foster children and their families through academic,
extracurricular and social hurdles.
- The Transportation team helps with
periodic transportation needs for foster parents and their foster
children. Volunteers provide back-up support for appointments
ranging from medical and dental to counseling and family
visitation. Typically scheduled a week or more in advance, there
are occasional needs for same-day support.
