First Baptist Church of Woodstock Holds Fall Programs

September Kicks off Love Loud and Foster Care Orientations

(Woodstock, GA - August 23, 2010) - First Baptist Church of Woodstock will hold its annual "Love Loud" season of community service kick-off on Sunday, September 12.   All of its fall events and ways to serve will be announced at this kick-off event, including its Christian Foster Care Ministry.  The first Christian Foster Care Ministry orientation will be held on Sunday, September 26, from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. in Room A-240 at the church, located at 11905 Highway 92 in Woodstock.  The second orientation will be held on Sunday, October 10, also at 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. at the same location.  Prospective foster parents are invited to a weekend training retreat on October 22 - 24, 2010, also at the church.

There are more than 10,000 Georgia children in foster care and 180 in Cherokee County.  In addition, there are less than half of the necessary foster families to serve them.  Find out how the local church and individuals can serve Cherokee County's foster children.  In addition to becoming a foster parent, there are many ways to get involved, such as volunteering to assist with clothing, material goods, transportation, and more.  Find out all of the ways to become involved at these fall events.

The public is invited to attend the orientations.  Visit www.faithbridgefostercare.org or call 678.294.9886 for questions or directions.

First Baptist Church began its foster care ministry in the fourth quarter of 2008.  In 2009, the ministry served 58 foster children, with requests from Cherokee County Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) to place an additional 45 children.  Today, there are 30 foster care and respite families that work with FaithBridge through First Baptist Church of Woodstock.  Because of the growing need for foster care families, the leaders at First Baptist Church are holding these two orientations to recruit at least 25 more families to become involved.

This ministry is in partnership with FaithBridge Foster Care, a Christ-centered, tax-exempt organization intent on changing U.S. foster care.  With currently more than 14 church partners in north Georgia and the greater Atlanta area, FaithBridge's strategy is to mobilize, organize, equip and release local churches and communities to solve the country's foster care crisis.  For more information on FaithBridge, please call 678.690.7100 or visit www.faithbridgefostercare.org.
