Coalition of Rome Churches Hold Foster Care
Program Events
Project127Rome, a coalition of eight
churches in Rome, is holding two events in July to educate and
train area residents who are interested in its Christian foster
care program. Floyd County has Georgia's largest number per capita
of foster children who need a loving home.
On July 9 - 11 there will be a weekend training at Unity Christian
School located at 2960 New Calhoun Highway, Northeast. At
this weekend retreat, starting Friday evening, a full day Saturday
and Sunday afternoon, interested persons will learn what is
involved in becoming a foster parent. On Monday, July 19, from 6
p.m. - 9 p.m., there will be a volunteer training session at First
Presbyterian Church of Rome at 101 East Third Avenue. There are
many ways to get involved, such as volunteering to assist with
clothing, material goods, transportation, and more.
The coalition launched its Christian foster care program in
January 2010 with an orientation. The coalition hopes to
increase the awareness of the program, as well as the number of
interested foster parents and volunteers at these two sessions in
July. The public is invited to attend both of these events.

The eight church partners include First Presbyterian Church, Fifth
Avenue Baptist Church, Hollywood Baptist Church, Lakeview Baptist
Church, Three Rivers Community Church, Seven Hills Fellowship,
along with the latest partners, the Church of Northside Rome and
West Rome Baptist Church. The group has named the mission
Project127 Rome for the biblical call to serve orphans found in
James 1:27.*
This ministry is in partnership with FaithBridge Foster Care, a
Christ-centered, tax-exempt organization intent on changing U.S.
foster care. With currently more than 14 church partners in
north Georgia and the greater Atlanta area, FaithBridge's strategy
is to mobilize, organize, equip and release local churches and
communities to solve the country's foster care crisis. For
