In order to begin Foundations Training, you must have completed Encounter FaithBridge Orientation. All foster parents are required to complete Foundations Training in order to obtain their foster care license through FaithBridge. The training includes 6 in-person training sessions. The 6-sessions are divided into two different types of training environments: classroom training held at a local church and one-on-one personalized training held in the foster home. Once you complete the classroom portion of the training at a local church, a FaithBridge staff member will schedule the remaining individualized training sessions in your home. FaithBridge Foundations Training is designed to prepare foster parent applicants for the physical, emotional and spiritual demands of caring for foster children. The training covers important topics while helping families examine their hearts to determine if they are called to foster.

Wise Up Training for Parents **This Class will be capped at 40 Participants. Limited childcare. When it comes to handling questions and comments about adoption and foster care, kids need to be empowered to decide how they want to respond. W.I.S.E. Up! helps children and teens choose what they want to share about their story, if anything. This course will be provided to parents on how to teach these skills to the children in their home. The program teaches an important tool that children can use as soon as others begin to notice differences about their family. For children in transracial or transcultural families, these intrusive questions can begin as early as age three: "Why dont you look like your mom?" For others, the questions come later: "Why were you adopted?" and "Where are your real parents?" When the questions begin, W.I.S.E. Up! helps with the answers. All registrants will be contacted closer to date to opt in or out of their children participating in the children's groups. Childcare IS provided to those registered regardless of whether or not they choose to participate in the children's groups.
