The 6-sessions are divided into two different types of training environments: classroom training held at a local church, and one-on-one personalized training held in the foster home. Once you complete the classroom portion of the training at a local church, a FaithBridge staff member will schedule the remaining individualized training sessions in your home. "Brain Development and Its Effect on Your Child's Behaviors" Does your child struggle with emotional dysregulation, impulsivity, and lack of self-awareness? Is your child a poor planner, disorganized, or seemingly unmotivated? According to The Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University, executive function skills are the mental processes that enable us to plan, focus attention, remember instructions, and juggle multiple tasks successfully. Just as an air traffic control system at a busy airport safely manages the arrivals and departures of many aircraft on multiple runways, the brain needs strong executive functioning skills to filter distractions, prioritize tasks, set and achieve goals, and control impulses. By understanding how a weak executive function skill affects our children we can make a plan to empower and equip them to grow.
